At Exploring Speech, you'll be in the capable hands of our speech pathologist, Laura.

Laura is a qualified speech pathologist, holding both an Associate degree of Allied Health and a Bachelor of Speech Pathology. Since beginning her career as an Allied Health Assistant in 2018, she has moved into a variety of roles including as a private practice speech pathologist, supervisor and regional manager. In 2024, Laura decided to open her own practice in Tweed Heads, which focuses on delivering a functional and personalised approach to speech pathology.

Laura has a deep-rooted passion for speech, stemming from personal experience. Her uncle has a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy and Selective Mutism, while some of her family friends also have communication difficulties. This first-hand exposure to the impact of speech disorders inspired Laura's journey to explore the field of speech pathology and support others living with similar challenges and difficulties.

As a generalist speech pathologist, Laura works with both children, adolescents and adults across all areas of speech pathology. In addition to her degree, she has completed various professional development and training courses, including in Key Word Sign, PROMPT, LEGO therapy, COMPASS and LAMP.
